Metal Work - Recycled Oil Drum

Josnel Bruno has been working as a metalsmith since his childhood when he apprenticed with his neighbor in Croix-de-Bouquets, Haiti. Since opening his own workshop, both he and his artwork have traveled the world. Josnel’s metal sculptures are forged from found oil drums with a type of cold chisel called a burin. Each piece is sanded, varnished, brushed, and varnished again. “In our designs,” Bruno says, “we represent things that belong to our culture, like voodoo. We also incorporate the nativity scene, and birds and plants from our own island landscape.”
