Ipomoea

Wool two-panel installation, handwoven and naturally dyed with successive dips of indigo in Tlaxcala, Mexico. The right panel features delicate hand-embroidered morning glory vines — ipomoea — climbing from deep indigo into pale sky, stitched in white against the dyed ground. Design and dye work by Ignacio Netzahualcoyotl, 2021 winner of the Grand Prize for Mexican Traditional Patrimony. Woven by Marlen Reyes Andrade.
