Our handspun and handwoven Stripe Llama Scarf is made in La Quebrada y Puna, Jujuy, Argentina by Omaguaca weavers using natural dyes. The weave is much finer than our other llama textiles and therefore takes more time to finish each piece.
In Quechua, Omaguaca means "place of the sacred water." Omaguaca weavers use creole four pedal looms to create the variety of designs known locally as ojo de perdiz (bird's eye) faz y trama (basic weave), espiga (chevron), and Barracan (basketweave). These fine woven scaves are made with the faz y trama style.
