Colorindio

Chiapas and Yucatán, México

Backstrap Loom Textiles

Colorindio weaves stories of millennial cultures through fabric. In 2009, Pola and Libya began working with artisans in the Yucatán and Chiapas to develop a collaborative work process with more than 150 artisans based on equality, balance, justice, respect and autonomy. Currently Colorindio collaborates with the communities of San Andrés Larráinzar, Zinacantan,Pantelhó, Aldama, Santa Martha, San Juan Chamula, Chiapas and the Zapotec communities of Oaxaca. Each has a different way to handle the loom, the colors, the images, and experiences that shape each design.
