Flores de Naranjo

A serene and luminous sarape, handwoven on a pedal loom in Tlaxcala, Mexico. A natural cream wool ground is scattered with a delicate all-over floral motif in red, olive green, teal, and pink — evoking a field of orange blossom. At the top, a nested diamond medallion with an olive green center and Greek key border detail draws the eye, while multicolored stripe bands at the hem lead to long white fringe. Naturally dyed throughout. Design and dye work by Ignacio Netzahualcoyotl, 2021 winner of the Grand Prize for Mexican Traditional Patrimony. Woven by Marina Netzahualcoyotl.
